About the owner/creator:
Born in 1962, I was raised in a comfortable middle class home in Brampton, Ontario, Canada. My father put in long hours as a plumber to provide for my Mom, 2 sisters and myself. He taught me from a very young age that if a job is worth doing, its worth doing right. I was very fortunate to inherit his mechanical aptitude but I gained my patience from my mother. Dad built my first workbench when I was 6 and I have been working with my hands ever since. With no interest in sports, I spent my time in the workshop taking things apart, trying to figure out how they work and trying to put them back together in hopes they would still work. When I finished grade 12, I started my apprenticeship as a plumber in the UA Plumbers and Pipe fitters union. I have been married since 92 and in 95, we had a daughter. My wife has been very supportive of my time spent in the workshop. With my hobby of woodworking, I have done a lot of custom work in the house. When she wants something built and I tell her it will require some kind of new tool. Needless to say, I have a full workshop. When we bought the house, I had just wrecked my Skylark and bought my dads 82 Ford F100. In 89, I bought a new F150. In 91, after 5 years without a vehicle to work on, my wife stated that I seemed bored and that I should get myself a project vehicle. This is when Sportruk was born...
